Juno was so hyped even I knew about it…from Vietnam. I wanted to see it over Christmas in the Bay Area, but I ended up seeing I am Legend instead.
I’d always loved Michael Cera from Arrested Development, and Superbad was cool as well.
But Juno was disappointing. Not that it wasn’t entertaining, or that it was stupid.
It’s cute. It’s funny. It’s witty. Good performances, I love all the actors.
It just doesn’t seem realistic, mainly the dialogue.
Especially Juno. She’s just ridiculously smart, so witty, just so able to spew line after line like you’re watching a character from a Kevin Smith movie or watching Whose Line Is It Anyway?
The premise, as a teenage single mother who just wants to donate her child (instead of having an abortion) to another family, sounds….cute. I simply didn’t believe it/buy into it.
But maybe not everything’s supposed to add up, it’s just supposed to be cute or funny. Maybe. But I wanted it to be more, or thought it was supposed to be more.
I though it was a 7/10.
