More than one and a half years after it happened, Hoang Thuy Linh’s career is not so defunct as many thought it would be.
(I feel like I’m trying to write some kind of retarded short article here, so I’ll stop with the ridiculous tone.)
Anyway, I’d heard people tell me she would have to live in the US after her sex scandal, her career was already over at 18, Vietnam would never forgive her, and so on.
But she’s back. Maybe not back, but she’s definitely doing stuff. Thuy was telling me that she’s featured still in events and activities all the time. This past Valentine’s Day, she performed (uh, not that performed) at an offline event in Hanoi.
So maybe it is a new era for Vietnam, at least one the youth seem to be winning out. Where change is ok, and moving on is not always such a bad idea either. Too bad, this isn’t happening in San Jose…
Good for Thuy Linh, and the best to her. Incidentally, the reason why I’m writing this post is because my original post on it (http://www.ispithotfire.com/2007/10/25/sex-scandal-snares-young-vietnamese-star-new-york-times/) is by far the most popular post on this site. Not that this site is popular or anything, but the post probably drives half of my total traffic, even now.
An article (videos too, click on the links right below the article- tried to embed but failed) of her Valentine’s Day: http://vnexpress.net/GL/Van-hoa/2009/02/3BA0B503/

Good for her, she’s actually pretty hot! Glad to see the scandal hasn’t extremely plagued her career. Nice blog by the way living in VN is fun I lived there for almost 2 years a while back.
Cheers
