Guitar Hero: The Widget

From: Wired’s GameLife

It’s a pretty cool idea in terms of promotion, reminds me of a similar idea I once had for In The Groove. This flash game is damn tough! Cannot even get through one of the songs.

One of My Favorite Photos of Me

This was before Guitar Hero was a huge smash, before it was even released.

Guess who I am? (I stand out)

For some reason, I don’t see Kyle in this.

Been a while since I’ve worn that shirt too, only reserve for when I don’t mind really standing out (I’m such a bastard). There’s also a side story about this picture that I was thinking of telling about this soon. Like any good story, it involves women.

The Escapist : Rock Band Pack Coming for Wii and PS2

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Yes, of course I will be getting this. Of course, Henry still has my Rock Band, and I didn’t play it that much in the months since I’ve been in Vietnam….and this track list isn’t that great….and 20 songs for $30 is a bit much…….

Oh I’m still getting it, I don’t care about the logic!

PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii owners will get a chance to snag some new songs for Rock Band.

Harmonix, EA and MTV Games are releasing a disc with 20 rather disparate songs for both platforms culled from the list already available via the Xbox 360 and PS3.

The Wii and PS2 lack the ability to download titles from servers – hence the disc – but it appears more songs will eventually be on the way, given the title of this release: Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1.

It will be released on July 15 for $30.

The disc’s contents are:

  • 30 Seconds to Mars “The Kill”
  • All American Rejects “Move Along”
  • Blink – 182 “All the Small Things”
  • Boston “More Than a Feeling”
  • David Bowie “Moonage Daydream”
  • Faith No More “We Care A Lot”
  • Grateful Dead “Truckin’”
  • The Hives “Die, All Right!”
  • KISS “Calling Dr. Love”
  • Lynyrd Skynyrd “Gimme’ Three Steps”
  • Nine Inch Nails “March of the Pigs”
  • Oasis “Live Forever”
  • Paramore “Crushcrushcrush”
  • The Police “Synchronicity II”
  • Queens of the Stone Age “Little Sister”
  • Ramones “Teenage Lobotomy”
  • Smashing Pumpkins “Siva”
  • Stone Temple Pilots “Interstate Love Song”
  • Weezer “Buddy Holly”
  • Wolfmother “Joker & the Thief”

Another cool Guitar Hero torrent I’m checking out. This one, I actually like a lot more since it’s just the best of Guitar Hero’s 1, 2, X360, and 80’s Encore rolled into one disc. After playing this, I realized I will have to do a lot of practice sessions to get my fingers in shape, or I’ll never get anywhere on Hard mode if any of these games. In Rock Band, which is a lot easier, I can kind of cheat but being fast enough to use my index and middle fingers to play the harder notes, but GH doesn’t let you “cheap” the skills.

You gotta be fast with all fingers, so I gotta find a song that lets me practice sequences all day long so I can get in shape.

This is about the coolest thing ever- I saw the song list and was….(jaw dropping), EVERLONG!!!!

(Most favorite song ever, along with so many other cool songs I’d want to play)

So I downloaded it and put it in to play and THEN….noticed that most songs are Expert only. And I can barely play hard. Why, lord why?!

And I have the PS2 Rock Band, so it’s not like I can download (buy) these songs and play either.

I honestly don’t think I will ever be good enough to play Expert. If I can pass all the songs for all the GH + RB games on Hard, I’d be plenty happy.

I won’t link to where you can get this, but search for the title (of this blog) and maybe it’ll come up :P

Music Industry: Are Musicians Getting The Shaft From Guitar Hero?

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

To add insult to injury, Metro writes that other contributors have been receiving “ceiling-high stacks of cash” while studio musicians, who have “supplied the major portion of what makes the game series so enjoyable” are left in the cold with sore throats and pockets turned out. (Editor’s note: can someone at Harmonix, RedOctane or Activision please forward us pics of your cash stack?) I’m fairly certain the argument can be made that there were dozens of programmers, engineers, artists and production staffers supplying the major portion of what makes Guitar Hero so enjoyable, but it’s certainly less fun in black and white terms.
